Welcome
The Erasmus+ and European Solidarity Corps Guides for public audiences have been developed in English.
We now offer an integrated machine translation eTranslate of all publicly available wiki pages into any one of the 24 official languages of the European Union.
This service is intended for use by applicants and beneficiaries but is also available for national experts.
The implemented eTranslation is using the official translation engine of the European Commission Translation Services eTranslate and their library of EU Formal Language translations from English to the selected language.
Each Public Wiki page will have these two buttons added on the top:
By clicking either the globe symbol or the Translate button the user initiates a machine translation of the current page.
A pop-up window with a disclaimer and a language selection box is shown.
To start a translation:
This starts the translation process.
While the translation is ongoing a banner is showing in the bottom right of the screen, explaining in the selected language that the page is being translated, please wait and with an option to cancel the translation.
Depending on the size and the complexity of the selected page, the translation will take between 30 seconds and 2 minutes.
When the translation is completed, the translated page is replacing the body of the original page.
In the bottom right of the page a box is displayed with a disclaimer and an option to return to the original page.
You have the option to provide your comments to the translation tool by clicking the link to provide answer on two questions. Note that this comment is not related to the Wiki documentation, but only to the eTranslation itself.
You may here give your feedback on the quality of the provided eTranslation and optionally provide comments. To submit your answer you must provide an antispam verification before clicking Submit.
If there is a problem with the translation or the translation tool, an error message is displayed. Please try again after 30 minutes.
If you click on a link in a translated page, the behaviour will be:
The translations are not saved centrally and cannot be improved.
However, if you try to translate a page to a language within 30 minutes from the last translation, a cached version of the translated page will be displayed directly.
You may save a copy of the translated page locally on your PC by using your Internet Browsers Print function (ctrl+P) and select PDF.
In case of problems with the translations, the users should revert to the English version.
