This chapter represents the main body of the guide. While procedures to design and implement an intervention are described in the  INTPA Companion, (see outline in section Common methodology: the intervention cycle), this section explains to operational managers what guidance and methodological support is available at each phase of the intervention cycle, linking theory and practice in an easy-to-use manner, in the framework of the relevant Programming phase document.

The sections Design, Implementation and Closure are structured as following:

NOTE:

The  INTPA Vade Mecum has introduced deep changes in INTPA approach to development cooperation. Setting out  “[…] the principles that will guide INTPA’s Strategic Governance System and create a more efficient and effective framework for working as a team”.

It underline in particular that “the required symbiosis will only work if the different stages of our planning are done in a fully collaborative and inclusive manner combining the knowledge and expertise of the collective INTPA (in HQ and Delegations) resource base

To reflect this concept, the previous “identification” and “formulation” phases have been fully merged in the “design phase”, and the INTPA Companion , that the ICM guide complements, revised accordingly.
