The LUCAS survey in its current set up was launched in 2006 with an aim to gather harmonised data on land cover/land use and agro-environmental aspects across the EU, in order to improve the availability and quality of land cover/use and environmental statistics. Since then, the survey took place every 3-4 years. Besides the core information, additional specific modules were introduced. Among these modules, the grassland module was first introduced in the LUCAS 2018 survey (via a pilot module on about 3000 sites) to provide specific information on the structure, management and quality of grasslands. A full grassland module was rolled out in 2022, on close to 20.000 LUCAS points. Technical documentation for the LUCAS grassland survey can be found at https://ec.europa.eu/eurostat/web/lucas/data/primary-data/2022.

Results (data) of the LUCAS 2022 grassland survey will be available by Q1 2024.
