Transitioning from Eurostat Bulk Download to API introduces some structural and data changes in the TSV and SDMX file formats.
They are presented in detail in the following documents:
For TSV: Migrating_to_API_TSV.pdf
For SDMX: Migrating_to_API_SDMX.pdf
Two more files are available to help in the transition:
Where_to_find_information_in_new_applications.pdf provides information about the move of data from former web services to the new API..
Migrating_to_API_data_constraints.pdf explains how to get similar information as the metabase.txt file.
In Bulk download, data download URL is
https://ec.europa.eu/eurostat/estat-navtree-portlet-prod/BulkDownloadListing?sort=1&file=data%2F<dataset_code>.tsv.gz
In API SDMX 2.1, it simplifies to
https://ec.europa.eu/eurostat/api/dissemination/sdmx/2.1/data/<dataset_code>?format=TSV&compressed=true
Submit in a web client (for example, a browser) a valid HTTP call with the name of the dataset and the relevant format:
https://ec.europa.eu/eurostat/api/dissemination/sdmx/2.1/data/BOP_EU6_M?format=TSV&compressed=true
The API returns the dataset data file: BOP_EU6_M.tsv.gz
New interface is documented in the following page : How to perform mass download operations
Go to the Data Browser: https://ec.europa.eu/eurostat/databrowser/bulk?lang=en:
Navigate to the relevant dataset by code, e.g. "European Union and euro area balance of payments - monthly data (BPM6) (BOP_EU6_M)".
Enter the code in the filter input
Select the download format “TSV” from the Download Operations drop-down
click on Apply to start the process
