The Europa Web Guide is the official rulebook for the European Commission's web presence, covering editorial, legal, technical, visual and contractual aspects.
It provides rules, guidelines and information on how to plan, design, build and maintain websites and is intended for all people working on the Commission's web presence (webmasters, internet editors, coordinators, contractors, ...).
All rules and guidelines in the Europa Web Guide are effective from 14 October 2019, the launch date of the guide.
The guide replaces the Information Providers Guide (IPG), which has been archived. Please see the archived IPG, if you need to review previous rules and guidelines.
There are a few important differences between the rules and guidelines in the Europa Web Guide and those in the Information Providers Guide.
New: A comprehensive guide on the procedures to follow when adding or editing content on the European Commission’s main website (ec.europa.eu/info).
The Europa Web Guide is a living document that will continue to be updated as the European Commission's web presence evolves. It will be updated soon to feature mandatory Europa Component Library elements. On average, there will be two new versions of the Europa Web Guide a year.
You will be notified when a new version is released.
The Europa Web Guide was compiled by DG Communication (Europa Web Communication – Unit B3). Details of whom to contact with enquiries are provided at the bottom of each page in the guide.
