This chapter represents the main body of the guide. While procedures to design and implement an intervention are described in the  INTPA Companion, Image Modified(see outline in section Common methodology: the intervention cycle), this section explains to operational managers what guidance and methodological support is available at each phase of the intervention cycle, linking theory and practice in an easy-to-use manner, in the framework of the relevant Programming phase document.

The sections Design, Implementation and Closure are structured as following:

  • a short introduction of the main characteristics of the phase;
  • a matrix associating, for each intervention phase:
    • the areas/fields of analysis;
    • guiding questions;
    • the list of available guides, methodologies and tools. These are hyperlinked to the relative Methodological Fiche, which summarize the methodology and provide direct link to the source and to complementary tools.
  • sub-section highlighting the most relevant aspects of each area/field of analysis.

NOTE:

The  INTPA Vade Mecum Image Modifiedhas introduced deep changes in INTPA approach to development cooperation. Setting out  “[…] the principles that will guide INTPA’s Strategic Governance System and create a more efficient and effective framework for working as a team”.

It underline in particular that “the required symbiosis will only work if the different stages of our planning are done in a fully collaborative and inclusive manner combining the knowledge and expertise of the collective INTPA (in HQ and Delegations) resource base

To reflect this concept, the previous “identification” and “formulation” phases have been fully merged in the “design phase”, and the INTPA Companion Image Modified, that the ICM guide complements, revised accordingly.
