How to map content

Using the to-be content inventory, you have to map existing content to the new ToBe architecture in your excel sheet.

In the column 'Source (URL from AsIs)' add the links to where the current source content for the new pages can be found.

As part of this exercise you will have to:

  • split and merge content where needed - existing pages and pieces of content will be split up or merged wherever needed to fit the new content structure:
    • e.g. merging several pages talking about the same subject on different current websites → the row with the new page will contain several URLs of source page
    • e.g. splitting a page containing policy background information and information about its implementation (e.g. about a funding programme) → the URL with the source content will appear several times in the column 'Source (URL from AsIs)' as a source for multiple new pages
  • perform a gap analysis to identify what additional content needs to be drafted in the future (the content gap): Are there user needs or organisational goals that are not being met (sufficiently) by the existing content?
