Purpose

Use the Timeline content type to display, in as clear a way as possible, a succession of past or future events on an European Commission website content page. It should not be confused with the "Ordered List" component.

Rules

commission.europa.eu:

Use the Timeline content type to create a timeline of events in the past or future, to feature on a page of ec.europa.eu/info/.

other EC branded websites:

Implementation and use of the timeline content type is recommended if the site hosts a significant volume of relevant content.

Background

The Timeline content type is considered to be a helper content type, to be used in combination with the standard Page content type. It does not have a full page view.

By filling in the Timeline content type, you can create a 'metro' map timeline of past or future events for display on an European Commission website page.

Complete the Timeline content type fields, including title, introduction, number of steps to be visible by default, and Next steps.

Training

DG Communication organises regular Content management system training sessions.
