Page tree

The following sample pages demonstrate best practices for a range of page types. Use them to plan and compose your page layouts and content. The guidelines provide templates, examples and indications for guidance.

These examples represent commonly used page types and are a great starting point for creating web content.

Every template in this section is built with ECL components, so they work whether you're building pages in the Europa Web Publishing Platform (EWPP) or developing a custom site.

The European Commission's design principles should be considered when practicing layout and composition, to ensure a coherent, user-centred online experience across the Commission's web presence. However, every site is different, so you can add or remove components within these templates to suit your users' needs.

Each template contains links to technical specifications related to building these pages on the Europa Web Publishing Platform (EWPP)  or to code snippets if the site is developed on another platform.

The Europa Web Guide is the official rulebook for the European Commission's web presence, covering editorial, legal, technical, visual and contractual aspects.
All European Commission web sites must observe the rules and guidelines it contains.
Web practitioners are invited to observe its contents and keep abreast of updates. More information about the web guide.
