FIRE Workshop 2024 (LUChaP group)

FIRE: Fostering the Implementation of Regulations’ Elements

Hybrid meeting - JRC Ispra Building 36

3-4 October 2024

This workshop was organised by the LUChaP team as part of its activities and expertise linked to Land unit characterisation.

The workshop focuses on the implementation of the new CAP delivery model. The audience were representatives and technical experts from the Members States’ Paying Agencies and Ministries of Agriculture responsible for the actual implementation of the content of their CAP Strategic Plans.

The new CAP model must contribute to deliver on 10 specific economic, environmental and social objectives as measured by a series of common indicators. A substantial amount of financial support to farmers is dedicated to environmental and climate objectives.

That constitutes a rather substantial change compared to the previous model. It entails, for the MS administrations, to operate some updates and upgrades of their administration and control system (IACS).

While there is a considerable increase in subsidiarity to MS in the management of the CAP, it is of great interest to exchange/share technical knowledge to propose tools and solutions fitting for purpose of more and more diversified and complex agricultural systems encountered in MS.

Thus, it is of paramount importance to search for solutions facilitating the management by MS administration, reducing the burden, and easing farmers’ administrative work. That constituted one of the main objectives of the workshop.
