Building on Horizon 2020, the Commission looks to strengthen the support for pollinator research needs in the next EU research framework programme for the 2021-2027 period - Horizon Europe - as reflected in the first Strategic Plan. The following topics planned in the first Work Programme (2021/2022) are in particular relevant for the conservation of wild pollinators:

HORIZON-CL6-2021-BIODIV-01-02 - Data and technologies for the inventory, fast identification and monitoring of endangered wildlife and other species groups

HORIZON-CL6-2022-BIODIV-01-02 - Building taxonomic research capacity near biodiversity hotspots and for protected areas by networking natural history museums and other taxonomic facilities

HORIZON-CL6-2022-BIODIV-02-01-two-stage - Maintaining and restoring pollinators and pollination services in European agricultural landscapes

In addition, the new European Biodiversity Partnership, Biodiversa+, will support further excellent research on pollinators.
