ET2020
Education and Training 2020 cycle working groups
The Strategic Framework for European Cooperation in Education and Training 2010 – 2020 (ET 2020) was adopted in 2009, succeeding the Education and Training 2010 (ET 2010), and was based on four strategic objectives: making lifelong learning and mobility a reality; improving the quality and efficiency of education and training; promoting equity, social cohesion and active citizenship; and enhancing creativity and innovation, including entrepreneurship, at all levels of education and training.
ET 2020 cooperation was organised through various tools and instruments, including through the ET 2020 working groups, the principal forum for mutual learning between EU Member States, other participating countries, stakeholder organisations and social partners. Coordinated by the European Commission, ET 2020 working groups operated between 2009 and 2020, in several short cycles, combining sector-focused (early childhood education and care, schools, vocational education and training, higher education and adult learning) and issue-focused working groups (covering transversal policy issues such as digital skills and competences, and citizenship and the promotion of common values).
The seven working groups were:
- Early Childhood Education and Care (ECEC);
- Schools;
- Higher Education;
- VET;
- Adult Learning;
- Digital Skills and Competences;
- Promoting Common Values and Inclusive Education.
